Let’s take a closer look … @ PROOF OF YOUR “CYBER-HUMANITY”

This month: Am I really confirmed as a “human” simply because I can correctly I.D. a flying tiger?

I don’t know about YOU, but it’s somewhat unsettling facing some of the “sign-in steps” required just to visit all my proprietary online content. How does this system know that just because the user can make a positive identification of an image performing a specific act (or, a crosswalk, a bridge, a bus, etc.) – it thereby identifies said user as “a human.”  More specifically, “… you have been identified as a human.” (complete with the ominous tones: “Da-da-da-dahhhhhhhh”)

SHOCK & AWE

And who said I am “a human.”  Perhaps I am the latest hack-man in the “humanoid cyberworld” who has a unique ability to see some of the most obvious creatures possible – and correctly answer their current activity on the page in front of me? Or perhaps I’m using a state-of-the-art algorithm which enables me to trick the system into believing I am something I am not.

I guess I’m just a little freaked out by some of this stuff. Not because it is so advanced – but rather because it seems so simplistic! I just don’t believe that we are as secure as we would like to wish we are.  And don’t get me started on the alternative: biometric options. In fact, I get so pissed off every time I pass through the TSA line at the airport and the agent wraps up the session by taking my picture. “Make sure you look deep into that camera young man.” When is that system going emit an everlasting BEEP while deciding to deem my headshot photo as “not a human.” #SMHH (i.e. Shake My Human Head)
